A Lifetime of Love

On October 1st, my Grandparents, J.N. and Anne Bach, celebrated 70 years of marriage.

70 years! What an accomplishment! I have trouble imagining myself LIVING 70 years, let alone being married that long!

Last week as I was thinking about my Grandparents and this incredible milestone in their married life, I was inspired to write a song. I wanted to write something that would pay tribute to them, as well as to my parents (who just celebrated their 43rd Anniversary) and my wife (who has put up with me for 11 years).

Hopefully, this song will end up on a recording in the future. Until then, I can share the lyrics with you. As you read this, remember that I wrote the first verse for my wife, the second verse for my parents, and the third verse for my Grandparents. Enjoy!

A LIFETIME OF LOVE

10 years married, but it seems like yesterday
that we looked into each other's eyes
and said we'd stay
together forever, until death do us part.
You gave me your love,
and I gave you my heart.

And love carried away our fears.
And love wiped away our tears.
Through the good and bad times,
the happy and sad times,
our faith in each other and God above
has given us a lifetime of love.

40 years married. Time's gone by.
But he still wipes her tears
every time she cries.
In a house built on faith, only time moves on.
Between them, nothing's changed
and nothing is gone.

And love carried away their fears.
And love wiped away their tears.
Through the good and bad times,
the happy and sad times,
their faith in each other and God above
has given them a lifetime of love.

70 years married. Where did the time go?
As they gaze into each other's eyes,
they both know
that they love each other just as much
as when they first met.
Though it's been a lifetime, they still can't forget...

That love carried away their fears.
And love wiped away their tears.
Through the good and bad times,
the happy and sad times,
their faith in each other and God above
has given them a lifetime of love.

God has given them a lifetime of love.

Until next time, GOD BLESS!
